Ms Gronquist grew up in rural New York State. She studied bronze sculpture, typography, and European art history before launching her landscape architectural career in 1997. She is particularly interested in places where people live, whether the site is a private residential garden exquisitely tailored to the owners, or a multi-unit housing development that creates space for an entire community to grow.
Recently she has been passing her experience on to the next generation of landscape architects in the classroom, including serving as a lecturer at UC Berkeley where she teaches construction detailing. A strong sense of personal responsibility, plus a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to project management are hallmarks of her professional style.

Over the course of her career, Ms Gronquist has developed working relationships with many other firms and contractors, and has completed projects in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Piedmont, Alameda, Lamorinda, Fremont, and Vallejo. She is particularly experienced in permit documentation, long-lasting and inexpensive organic techniques for solving site problems, and Bayfriendly requirements for Alameda County projects.
